Terms and Conditions (last modified 9/17/2009)
Please call us at (562) 342-4246 if you have any questions or concerns; we are here to serve you.
Appointments are billed in half hour increments after an initial two (2) hour charge. Terms of payment for services are net due upon receipt of invoice unless otherwise agreed. Credit cards and EFT are accepted for payment. A late charge of $35 or 2% of balance, whichever is greater, is applied after each and every recurring 30 days there is a remaining balance.
Appointments canceled less than two (2) business days (Monday through Friday) are billed for the entire amount of time originally scheduled. For example, if an appointment is scheduled for Friday, the appointment must be canceled by close of business on Tuesday in order to not be charged. However, if a substitute appointment is booked during the canceled time slot we will deduct the earned amount from any applicable cancellation fee. For example, if you have a four hour appointment Monday 8 a.m. to 12 noon that is canceled on Friday afternoon. You will be charged for the full four hours. If we book an appointment for another client Monday 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., you will only be charged for the remaining two hours which represents the lost asset of time.
Weekdays between the hours of 8:00am and 5:000pm our rates typically(emphasis added) range (depending on the location) from $65 to $100 per hour, per interpreter. Weeknights and weekends our rates typically are calculated at time and one half. On state or federal holidays our rates typically are calculated at time and one half. Appointments requesting same day or next day urgent service may be charged as much as two times the applicable rate. When possible we will work with you, however, the increase in cost represents the expense of pagers, cell phones and excess staffing to accommodate urgent requests.
Some states, employment laws require us to pay for travel time which is considered excess of commute. Therefore, travel time over and above a "reasonable commute" may be charged at the applicable rate previously described, unless otherwise agreed. We will notify you if this is the case. A "reasonable commute" is defined by reference to the most recent Census Bureau, American Community Survey.
For example, the average commute time for Los Angeles and the District of Columbia is 30 minutes. Only when travel time exceeds 30 minutes enroute or departing location will the client be charged.
Some state employment laws require us to reimburse interpreters for their mileage. Therefore, mileage may be charged at the current GSA Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) Mileage Reimbursement Rate. We will notify you if this is the case.
You will be notified and your approval will be requested in the event there are per diem charges. Travel outside of the interpreters home area will include a standard per diem. The per diem is defined by reference to the current fiscal year GSA published per diem reimbursement for the Continental United States (CONUS).
